Sold a Homemade/Handmade Letter Opener On Etsy!

I just sold a handmade letter opener on my Etsy site. This is my first sale. Woohoo! I made it from poplar wood and finished it with linseed oil. This won’t replace my day job, but it is a start. Besides, I enjoy the woodworking hobbie. So, if I make a little extra on the side from it, great.

I am shipping the item off today. Perhaps I should put some more time in making some more items. My Etsy shop, MuseAndMake, is now left with only one item for sale.

Here is the letter opener.

Homemade Decor

Sometimes making home decor oneself is preferable. It saves money. You get quality. And, it adds a richness to the space because you know you made it. The home becomes more personalized. Here are some samples of what we’ve done.

Homemade Toys

We didn’t have the heart to take away our kids mass-produced toys when we decided plastic is bad. However, I have given them some other ones to throw into the mix. I enjoy the hobby. We save some money on toys. My kids get to play with natural materials and more unique items. Whatever your talents are, I strongly suggest making some fun for your kids. It will make you warm inside. Here are some samples.

Made for our daughter

Here are some items my wife made for our daughter. Once again keeping us from going to the retail stores. Our girl Abbie adored these. A big part of our homesteading philosophy is making things ourselves instead of buying them. Good job wifey!
